3 Danger Signs Your Dishwasher Is Asking for Repairs

When the dishes are cleaned out quicker, the kitchen looks cleaner. A dishwasher also handles your dishes safely and results in less breakage, compared to handwashing. However, things could go the other way around if your dishwasher is malfunctioning!

Here are some of the warning signs:

Water is not pumping into the dishwasher

Your dishwasher has an automated sensor pump that senses when to get the water pump to pump water in. Many a time, the pump refuses to work because it doesn’t get adequate signals from the sensor. This happens if the sensor is broken, stuck, dirty, or is technically malfunctioning. Kicking and punching the pump won’t make it work. It’s also not advisable to run a dishwasher that’s not pumping the water. The appliance will overheat and collapse. If the sensor is not working, water won’t pump out of the dishwasher either.

There could be other reasons too. It’s also likely that the drain pump is broken, or food particles have clogged the drains.

You need an expert to take a look at the pump and see if the sensor needs to be fixed.

Dishes are not cleaning properly.

First of all, check if your soap is effective or you’re using enough. We also recommend asking the manufacturer whether the dishwasher requires soap in the first place—not all of them do. It’s also likely that the drain screens are clogged, and some food particles are still stuck from the last wash cycle. When the dishwasher is turned on, these particles can blow around and stick to the dishes. A dishwasher repair expert will take a look and clear out the clogs.

Water is leaking.

Water shouldn’t be leaking out of the dishwasher during the wash cycles. If it does, it means the door seal is broken and needs to be replaced. This problem is more common among old dishwashers whose seals are made of rubber and wear out over prolonged use. Water can also leak out if the dishes push against the door. This puts pressure on the allow and prevent it from closing completely. As a result, water runs out and flows into the kitchen.
